Jerry Rozas Perridon, birth name, Honore’

Gerard Perrodin was born in Eunice, Louisiana on May 29,1938. He was the eighth of ten children born to Frank (Francois) Allen and Josephine Perrodin. Jerry came to know the Lord at a very young age at St. Matilda Catholic Church Eunice, Louisiana where he later became a student of St. Matilda Catholic School.

On May 12, 1962, Jerry married the love of his life Maglon Gallien at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Their union was blessed with two biological children, Pamela Perridon Edwards and Brian Keith Perridon. He was further blessed to have reared another daughter, Monique Thierry Casher.

Jerry relocated to Houston, Texas in the 60’s and later became an active member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church until his illness. Jerry was a hard worker with great work ethics. He acquired his love of golf at an early age as he spent countless hours as a caddy on the golf course of Eunice, Louisiana. His occupation as a truck driver led him to Steadman in Lake Charles, Louisiana for approximately 10 years. Upon relocating to Houston, Texas he worked at Auto Convoy for 20 plus years until retirement.

Jerry never met a stranger. Because of his love for people, he always greeted individuals with a smile and a kind word. Jerry had a special love and appreciation for his family and they loved and admired him tremendously. Jerry also exemplified a great sense of pride in his Louisiana culture as he shared countless stories from the past, shared openly to the world his ability to speak French (Creole) and his love of Zydeco music/dancing.

Jerry was a connoisseur of great food. He participated in numerous chili and gumbo cook offs where he was known as “Smokin Joe”. Jerry was well known for his gumbo and famous brisket. Jerry loved life to the fullest. Moreover, he reiterated on many occasions, “I had a good life”. Jerry departed this earthly life peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday October 17, 2020. Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Monique Thierry Casher and God son Linus Bellard Jr. Parents Frank Allen and Josephine Perrodin; Four sisters Rita Guillory, Teresa Guillory, Genora Thomas and Mary Jane Thierry; Four brothers Joseph Chester Perridon, Lester Paul Perridon, Jessie Frank Perridon, and Joseph Perridon.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: wife of 58 years, Maglon Gallien Perridon, two children Pamela (Isaac) Edwards, Brian Keith (Tina) Perridon of Houston, Texas; one sister Virginia (Wilfert)Broussard.of Iowa, Louisiana. Grandchildren: Morgan Edwards, Robert Mendoza, Demarcus Adams, Crystal Ward, Cedric Jr., Delisha Scott, Joshua Casher, Mary Tyler, Mathew Casher and God Son, Lee Leday. Great Grandchildren Robert Louis Mendoza and Rose Lillian Mendoza

Jerry was also loved and cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
