Richard Anthony Epherson was born on May 24, 1959 to Louis and Louise Epherson in Houston, TX. He was the second of three sons born during their union. Richard excelled both academically and athletically as a child, receiving a basketball scholarship to attend St. Thomas High School.
After his graduation in 1978, Richard completed an internship at IBM before continuing his studies at Earlham College in Indiana. Although a mental health diagnosis impeded his educational journey, Richard continued to be known for his athletic and academic ability. He engaged people wherever he went with his baritone voice, deep philosophical conversations, and captivating smile.
After overcoming his mental health battle, Richard suffered from other physical ailments that he ultimately succumbed to on March 18, 2021. Richard is preceded in death by his father Louis Epherson Jr. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Joseph and Louise Wiltz; seven siblings; over 25 nieces and nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
